To me, designing and selling a new memorial or refurbishing an old is both interesting and valuable work. I am myself interested in genealogy and local history, so cemeteries have been important places for me to visit long before I started working for Loimaan Kivi a few years ago.

There are headstones of all different shapes and sizes, some that are more decorative while others remain more minimalist, from small plaques to massive family tombs. No matter what the memorial looks like, Finnish stone is an everlasting material, and a headstone will always be a tribute to life well lived and an important connection between the deceased and their family who remain here on Earth in mourning.

For my own part I try to make sure that the difficult, sometimes even unpleasant act of buying a headstone is as pleasant and natural as it can be.
